Ran a little later today, I have a new schedule starting this week which will require me to rise Monday to Friday @ 3.30am so I took advantage of a little sleep in today and then cooked a Royal feast of a breakfast for me and my sons- then I finally got around to running at 11.00am, a steady state 12 miler..... two loops of the challenging Brielle course.
I was in bed early last night but awake 'til after midnight watching the baseball and despite the sleep in could feel it in my turnover this morning in addition to fatigue from track yesterday with the 5 x 1 mile repeats with the strong winds... Speaking of winds, the 10k course is well sheltered from the winds as compared to the boardwalk but I did encounter some wind at certain points on the course... I ran easy today, overall time of 1.34.00 a very relaxing steady no stress 7.50 pace..... I wanted to open the jets a little in the 11th mile so I threw in a 6.31 and that felt quite comfortable. The air temp was nice today once I warmed up and the rain held off. An athlete of my coaching partner Tom Schaefer was running a marathon today up in Asbury Park in extreme winds and that was inspiring me in my run " I thought, If Kathleen can run a marathon in today's conditions, then I can definitely survive an easy 12 miles in this weather'
Well I survived one more longish run prior to New York and now we are into the final two weeks before race day.
