New York marathon 2009
Last year I was thrilled to participate with the Team Boomer group by providing copies of my book Run Tall, Run Easy for each member and extremely proud of my athletes, many of whom contributed some $1100.00 toward the Team Boomer cause. It was also an honor to be able to attend the pre race dinner in NYC..
I am even more honored and proud to be part of the 2009 group as I will be running the marathon this year on behalf of Team Boomer and BEF.. I vowed last year at the dinner to come out of marathon retirement to do this and I am keeping that committment.
My running career and ultimately my coaching career were kicked off by my participation in the 1990 New York marathon. A race that got the better of me, but I did finish my first marathon in 4.41. It changed my life completely in oh so many ways.
Living in California at the time, I returned to run my second New York marathon in 1996. It would be my 8th marathon overall at the time.That year, I completed the NYM in 2.42 and repeated the same time in 1997. I went on to run 2.34 in 1998 in Napa Valley.
This year, all being well will be my 7th NYM and my 24th overall...
