Well to say today was windy is like saying a 15 foot wave is small surf !
It was mighty windy out of the Northeast steady 18-25mph wind with stronger gusts.
I knew that the paces today for my final week (week 10/10) of 5 x 1 mile with 400 meter jog all under 3.30 would be slower than in the past couple of weeks but I was not concerned. I knew that as long as I put forth the effort, that is what would matter. The pace is there when the conditions are right. In recent weeks I have been averaging well under 6 mins and in reality under 5.50 per mile.
Today went 6.18-6.15-6.11-5.58.87 (with an 85 last lap) - 5.58.91 run more even paced. The air temperature was good although I ran in gloves but overall temps were comfortable and at least it did not rain.
Ten weeks ago 10 weeks of 5 x 1 mile seemed a tall order and I definitely experienced the full gammut of weather in that time span, but whilst there is still much work ahead in terms of taking on the NYM, I did take a moment of brief celebration with a quiet pumped fist with 100 metes to go in the last mile today, partly to celebrate the end of the 50th mile but almost equally to have survived the workout in today's conditions.
